Coleman Xtreme cooler-this thing is double insulated and a
must in the desert. You loose a little space because the
walls are thicker, but when you can have a block of ice last
over 5 days-it's worth it!
beyondthecampground.com
REI-they may not have the cheapest prices on everything,
BUT they stand by what they sell. We have had zippers
bust on tents and they have replaced the tents (several).
After 6 months (4 trips) the sole separated on my
husbands new boots, they replaced them. And if you join
their co-op, you get back a bit of what you spend there.
Some of our favorite stuff:
BIGBENDCHAT.COM-If you are heading down to Big
Bend, then this is the fountain of information you have been
looking for! Read trip reports on just about every trail there,
get great tips on hydration, gear, hiking....anything and
everything having to do with the desert.
RUBBERMAID ACTION PACKERS- these storage boxes
rock! We have three large ones for all our gear and one
small one for kitchen pots and cooking gear. you can also
use them as a table or sit on 'em.
CAMPMOR.COM- cheaper prices and they don't hammer you
on the shipping. They have a wide selection of all things for
camping. If you don't need it right away then this site is a great
place to stock up on your supplies
THERM-A-REST-self-inflating, insulated sleeping pads. I
hated to camp before we found these. You can adjust the
firmness by adding a few puffs of air and they block the cold
from the ground. They also don't deflate during the night like
an airmattress does. Just unroll, loosen the cap and let them
fill up on there own. I won't camp without one. They come in
all lengthes and thicknesses, from lightweight for
backpacking to luxury thick for car camping.
